Day 6: Sweet and Simple Fruit Salad
Canon EOS R5 | Canon RF100mm F2.8 L MACRO IS USM
1/800 sec | f/2.8 | 100 ISO
Why did I take this photo?
I planned to take a different photo today, but thought the fruit salad looked so pretty sitting in the afternoon sunshine, that I photographed it instead. Having a photo of it on hand also gives me a good reason to share the recipe!
How was this photo taken?
Handheld outdoors with harsh shadows.
Did I learn anything? Would I do anything different next time?
There's definitely a curve to food photography, and I have a lot to learn. I'm not overly satisfied with the way the photo turned out, and I'm not sure why. I guess it lacks focus? A lot of food photography seems to be staged and styled, and this was simply a bowl of something I was going to eat. The harsh shadows helped give contour to the ingredients, but ultimately caused me to have to crop off the dark side of the bowl because it was so distracting. Oh well, it was delicious!
This is day 6 of 100 of The 100 Day Project, in which I commit to take and post a new photo from with my camera (not cellphone) every day. Follow my creative journey on via blog or Instagram.
